Quarterly Internship
The internship program at the Washington Council on International Trade has proven an effective and educational experience, offering interns the opportunity to sharpen skills in a supportive, international environment. As an intern you would have opportunities to participate in joint activities with members of the business and legislative communities on trade-related issues. While interns are expected to perform office and administrative tasks, opportunities to work on longer-term projects can be an important aspect of the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform research and prepare reports on trade policy issues and legislation. Provide office administrative support and other projects as requested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & OTHER WORK CHARACTERISTICS: Must be able to independently structure and carry out research assignments with minimal direction. Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills. Must be proficient with online research and have the ability to prepare written reports. Must be proficient with MS Office. Must possess good critical thinking skills and work well in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Student in or recent graduate from a program leading to a degree in international affairs, international business/economics, or related field. Educational background in economics. Experience in research and in preparing written and oral research reports. Native-level English ability. Should be able to commit at least three months (one academic quarter) to this internship. Preference is given to candidates who reside or attend school in Washington State.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is a part-time, unpaid position (a minimum of 12 and up to 20 hours per week) during the school year. Normal work hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interns will be subject to all WCIT policies and procedures.
