Katherine H. Wilson was the interim president of the Washington Council on International Trade (WCIT), a private non-profit trade policy organization that promotes understanding of the importance of trade for Washington State.  At the Washington Council on International Trade, Wilson oversaw strategic planning and trade policy work. Activities included public programs featuring authorities in trade and the provision of trade policy information to the public, press and decision-makers at the state and national levels.

Wilson’s background and career in international work spans Europe, Asia, Central America and the Middle East.  From August 1999 to December 2005, Wilson worked in the Entertainment and Devices Division for Microsoft.  She worked on the launch of both versions of Xbox and managed the roll-out of the Xbox Live service in 8 European countries in 2003.  Based in London for 3 years, she headed negotiations with European broadband providers for Xbox and returned to the US to manage global deal negotiations and program work with broadband providers across 24 countries.  From late 2004 through 2005, she also led a product incubation team focused on building a joint product for broadband providers globally that is scheduled for a Fall 2007 release.  Wilson still provides strategy consulting work for Microsoft, most recently on a new consumer strategy for China and India. Prior to Microsoft, Wilson consulted for General Electric International based in Southeast Asia and for Intel.
From 1991-1996, Wilson was the Director for Indonesia and Singapore affairs at the U.S.-ASEAN Council for business and technology, a private, non-profit trade association that promotes trade policy and promotion efforts with Southeast Asia.

Founded in 1989, the Council is the principal organization of American companies and industries engaged in trade and investment with ASEAN, and is supported by several hundred leading U.S. corporations and firms.  In addition to guiding trade policy education work on Indonesia and Singapore with the Hill and Administration, Wilson contributed regularly to informed U.S. dialogue on Indonesia through frequent public speaking engagements and media appearances.  She also worked closely with leading NGOs such Human Rights Watch to found a common dialogue between NGOs and corporations on labor standards.  Wilson also managed 6 overseas offices and reporting for a USAID grant during her tenure at the Council.

Wilson received her M.B.A. and M.A. in Southeast Asian studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and her B.A. in International Studies, Middle East Affairs from the College of William and Mary.
Wilson is an active volunteer in the community with City Year and the Childcare Resources Center.  She is a member of the World Affairs Council and the Asia Society.  She and her husband Andy live in Seattle, Washington.
