ABOUT WCIT WCIT President Kathleen Connors Kathleen Connors is president of the Washington Council on International Trade, a private, non-profit organization that provides an indpendent voice in advocating the importance of trade for Washington State's economy. The Council's members are comprised of small, medium and large busineses, non-profit organizations and academia who support public policy that encourages growth and expanded opportunities for Washington State businesses in the global marketplace. Broadly respected for its credible and independednt voice, WCIT is the primary information resource on international trade and business issues for elected representatives, business leaders, the media, educators, and community groups in Washington State. Ms Connors has a long-established background in U.S.-Asian trade policy. Her experiance includes representing American businesses before U.S. and foreign government policy makers to shape beneficial trade policy, designing issue-specific advocacy campaigns and business promotion programs. Her particular expertise is in U.S.-Indonesia commercial relations. She has also done extensive work on healthcare issues, investment policy, intellectual property protection, ASEAN integration and APEC. Prior to joining WCIT, Ms. Connors worked at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. as director, Southeast Asia. She has previously served as executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, advisor to the USAID-funded Partnership for Economic Growth (PEG) project in Indonesia, and director of member services for the US-ASEAN Business Council. She has a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Economics from Michigan State University and a Master of Public Policy degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
