The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship program brings accomplished mid-career professionals from designated countries to the U.S. for one year of graduate study and practical, work-related experience. Similarly, the Packard-Gates Population Leadership Program brings professionals and leaders from developing countries for a year of study and practical work focusing on population and reproductive health issues.

The Washington Council on International Trade - in partnership with the World Affairs Council, the Initiative for Global Development and the International Service Committee of the Rotary Club of Seattle - is hosting a dinner to welcome the Fellows to Seattle. We are pleased to invite you to participate. Spouses, friends and interested guests are welcome.

In hosting this dinner, we have several objectives:
Introduce the fellows to leaders in our community in an informal setting of frank, open dialogue and friendship;

Hear and learn from the fellows - their expectations, their attitudes and viewpoints, their ideas;

Pair-up each fellow with one or two leaders in the local community who will then include the fellow in some of their own business and civic activities during the coming year;

Broaden each fellow's opportunity for experience and insight and help them gain a fuller understanding of our country and its leaders.

Please indicate on the registration form below if you would like to be a community contact. Please list three potential fellows you would like to be paired with, and we will facilitate a match with one. If someone else in your organization would like the opportunity to be a community contact, please share the invitation with him or her.

Our intent is to reconvene this gathering again next spring for a wrap-up session as the fellows end their year of study. We expect to learn from them and gain important insights from first-hand accounts of their experience in the United States.

The cost is $100 per person, which includes your meal and helps defray the cost of one of the fellows, all of whom who will be our guests.

We foresee these dinners becoming a much-anticipated annual tradition, and eagerly look forward to your participation in this inaugural event!
