(Seattle, Feb. 17 1999) Tomorrow at a press conference, host committee leaders Governor Gary Locke, King County Executive Ron Sims, Seattle Mayor Paul Schell, Boeing President Phil Condit, Microsoft Senior Director of Corporate Affairs Kimberly Ellwanger (representing Microsoft President Bill Gates), and Washington Council on International Trade President Patricia Davis will announce plans for the 1999 World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Meeting and introduce officials of the steering committee.

Seattle was recently selected as the site for the next WTO Ministerial Meeting scheduled for November 30-December 3, 1999 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. This conference, known to be the largest trade event ever held in the United States, is expected to launch global negotiations that will further open markets in goods, services and agricultural products. Trade ministers from 134 member countries and up to 5,000 delegates are expected to participate.

The press conference will take place at 5 p.m. at the World Trade Center, 2200 Alaskan Way, 4th Floor Dining Room.
