Pacific Forum Targets Small Business SEATTLE--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Nov. 27, 1999--With a focus on getting small businesses involved,
international roundtables on Pacific Rim trade will be held during the
World Trade Organization (WTO) The
roundtable discussions are part of a series of trade forums sponsored
by the Seattle Host Organization (SHO) which selected the Coalition of
Chambers for Asia Pacific Trade to plan the "Salute to Small Business
and Asia Pacific Trade." All the events will be held Friday, December
3rd, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Westin Hotel. "With
economies on all sides of the Pacific booming, there are great opportunities
for small businesses to get involved in international trade," said
Jesse Tam, CEO of Northwest International Bank and co-chair of the Coalition
of Chambers for Asia Pacific Trade.
"Seattle is a perfect Pacific Rim location for us to focus on how
easy
it can be for small firms to work with companies across the water." From
Chile to China, from Indonesia to the state of Washington, representatives
of business and government will discuss three specific topics during the
afternoon roundtables: "Capitalizing on the Small Business Edge for
Asian Pacific Trade," "Small Business Trade and the Asia Pacific
Financial Crisis," and "Sustainable Development: An Economic
Necessity for Trade in the 21st Century." A

WTO/Seattle Host Organization is the coordinating body for the WTO Ministerial
